Overview

  • Dr. Wang’s current research focuses on identifying human antibody-mediated target antigens on pig kidney/liver/skin cells using CRISPR/cas 9 gene editing, including carbohydrate xenoantigens, SLA Class I and Class II, developing a novel strategy for inducing human T-cell tolerance to pig xenotransplantation to humans, and understanding the mechanisms by porcine liver sinusoidal cells to phagocytose human platelets, thereby alleviating the lethal thrombocytopenia observed after pig liver xenotransplantion, as well as characterizing RBC from gene-editing pigs for pig-to-primate xenotransfuion. In summary, his experience and expertise in the field of immunology and xenoimmunology have prepared him for xenotransplantation research.
