    Research Overview

  • My research focus is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for autophagy, mitophagy and lysosomal functions, how these are linked to redox biology and bioenergetics, and how these mechanisms play important roles in Parkinson’s disease pathogenesis and provide opportunities for therapeutics development. These mechanisms are also important for understanding cell differentiation, proliferation, function and survival, in the context of cancer, diabetes, aging, cardiovascular, lung, liver and Alzheimer’s diseases. We are approaching this by using state of the art genetic models and advanced biochemical, omics, metabolic and redox related technologies.
