Sevante Metcalf is an instructor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He received a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Mr. Metcalf joined Collat faculty in the Summer of 2012. Since then he has taught a variety of business courses covering topics including Business Foundations, Financial Literacy, Financial Management, and Personal Finance. Prior to joining the Accounting and Finance faculty full-time at the Collat School of Business, Mr. Metcalf served as the Internship Coordinator for various business majors at Collat; including Finance, Accounting, Marketing, and Economics. He has also partnered with the Collat Career Services staff to develop "bootcamps" designed to fine-tune students' soft skills for various internship and career services recruitment events. During his time on faculty at Collat, Mr. Metcalf has served on various faculty associations, including the UAB Collat iLAG committee to promote the use of new technology and teaching methods in the class room. On the University level, Mr. Metcalf is also a member of the African American Faculty Association. He is also a member of the national Association of Finance Professionals and the Financial Management Association. Beyond teaching Finance in the classroom, Mr. Metcalf enjoys learning how to better develop course engagement, and has attended several seminars and conferences including the annual Teaching Professor Conference. Prior to joining the UAB Collat faculty, Mr. Metcalf worked in a variety of roles with the State of Alabama's Department of Industrial Relations for over 10 years.
