I am an enthusiastic and dedicated adjunct instructor seeking to teach, tutor, motivate, and encourage college students through teaching English and working in the University Writing Center. I am also teaching in UAB’s Community English Program. My recent research has been cross disciplinary, including rhetorical theory, education, law, and history—unpacking past and present issues related to the rhetoric of exclusion in education. My specific focus has grown from studying and promoting anti-racist and anti-ethnocentric pedagogy in public and private curricula to gaining an additional skillset to teach speakers of other languages by taking educational leadership classes in UAB’s School of Education.
Sally Anne is interested in rhetoric and composition, linguistics, literature, TESOL, and second language acquisition—particularly in areas of pedagogy.
Sally Anne home educated her own six children for a span of nearly three decades, tutored many others, and currently teaches freshman English. She also teaches in UAB’s Community English Program.
