• Caroline A. Reich, M.D., Ph.D. is a graduate of Judson College in Marion, Alabama. She completed her graduate education and residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and her fellowship training at UAB. As a medical student, she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, served as the National Chair of the Association of American Medical College’s Organization of Student Representatives and upon graduation received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Service. She also served on the National Institutes of Health Task Force on Recruitment, Retention, Re-entry and Advancement of Women in Biomedical Careers. During residency, Dr. Reich received the AMA/Glaxo Achievement Award as well as the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award.

    Dr. Reich has been in private practice in Birmingham since 1999 primarily focusing on Women’s Imaging since 2010. She is the founder and President of Women’s Imaging Associates, a Birmingham based radiology practice. As a physician entrepreneur, she has been a pioneer in the use of telemedicine to offer subspecialty expertise in breast imaging in partnership with providers across the county offering convenient access for women to breast cancer screening services.

    Dr. Reich joined the UAB faculty in 2017. She is focused on using advances in technology to enhance cost effective patient care. Her research interests include assessment of patient outcomes and economic impact of breast screening with tomosynthesis, contrast enhanced mammography and breast MRI. Dr. Reich holds memberships in several national organizations including the American College of Radiology, the Society of Breast Imaging, the Radiological Society of North America, and the American Roentgen Ray Society.
