Rett syndrome: Seeing the way forward

  • © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016. Rett syndrome is a developmental disorder predominantly affecting young females and first recognized around 1960. Today we know that these women can be expected to live well into middle age. Parents and caregivers must be guided in the provision of optimal care and health maintenance to promote both general health as well as those issues specific to this syndrome. Not the least of these is maintaining effective socialization and interaction with family and friends.
