In the interest of exploring a possible regulatory role for chromosomal arrangements, the close association of centromeres observed in metaphase cells has been studied throughout interphase. Synchronous cultures of muntjac cells were C-banded at various times representing different stages of the cell cycle. It was found that centromeric regions remain clustered in their telophase configuration throughout interphase, into the next prophase. © 1982.
