One hundred and forty-one children with cerebral palsy were seen during a 3-year period. It was commoner in boys. The majority of children were delivered at hospitals and the incidence was higher among first borns, and fifth borns and above. Most presented in the first 2 years of life. Neonatal asphyxia ranked the highest among the aetiological factors and the commonest clinical presentation was the spastic type. The latter observations were consistent with the previous report from this centre. © 1987 Oxford University Press.
