Secondary prevention of CHD in elderly patients

Academic Article

Abstract

  • The authors present current research regarding elderly patients and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease (CHD), including the benefits of smoking cessation, weight reduction, control of diabetes, increased exercise, and improvement of lipid levels, blood pressure, and psychosocial factors. Evidence suggests that the secondary prevention interventions that are beneficial for younger patients with CHD are often comparably successful for elderly patients.
