Polycystic ovary syndrome in Mexican-Americans: Prevalence and association with the severity of insulin resistance

Academic Article

Abstract

  • In this study, the prevalence of PCOS in Mexican-Americans, derived by self-report of symptoms, was 13%, which is twice the prevalence reported in other populations. Hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp studies showed greater insulin resistance in the women with PCOS. ©2005 by American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
