Study of factors responsible for the increased aminoaciduria of kwashiorkor

Academic Article

Abstract

  • Increased aminoaciduria is reported in 15 infants with kwashiorkor. This excretion is significantly correlated with nitrogen intake. It would appear from these studies thatconcentrations of amino acids in the plasma are maintained at their maxima for a longer period of time after a test meal (milk) than are those of the controls, and that this phenomenon is associated with the increased urinary excretion of amino acids. © 1962 The C.
