Anesthesia in the EP lab

  • Anesthesiologists are getting more involved in electrophysiology laboratory (EP Lab) procedures. This requires that they become more familiar with setting and background of the procedures they give anesthesia to. The effects of anesthetics on the elicitation, propagation and response to interventional procedures are key information the anesthesiologist needs to be familiar with. Equally important the anesthesiologist needs to be aware of emergencies that can arise and how to respond in a timely manner. In this chapter we discuss arrhythmia origins, different EP lab procedures and the anesthetic management of different procedures taking place in the EP lab.
