Flexibility and strength exercises for persons with arthritis

  • Community-based exercise classes for persons with arthritis are increasing nationwide. Many exercise specialists employed in YMCAs, corporations, and universities are being asked to develop exercise prescriptions for persons with arthritis. It is important that flexibility and strength exercises are done properly to insure that persons with arthritis do not sustain further damage to affected joints. The following paper will highlight specific exercises that can be safely employed with this clientele.
