MEASUREMENT OF CARDIAC PARAMETERS FROM CARDIOVASCULAR IMAGES.

Academic Article

Abstract

  • This paper describes a real-time computer-based system utilizing an x-y digitizer for measurement of cardiac parameters from cardiovascular images (angiograms, echocardiograms, scintigrams and pathology specimen photographs). Structures are manually traced with the digitizer pen, x-y coordinates are stored by the computer, outlines of the structures are displayed on a video terminal and reports printed on an electrostatic plotter. Parameters computed include left ventricular (LV) volume, mass, ejection fraction, percent abnormally contracting segment (%ACS), and infarct size estimates.
