Calcium and Its Implications for Psychiatric Nursing

  • Calcium plays a basic role in cell physiology. This column has attempted to raise the understanding of this role while admittedly only scratching the surface of available knowledge. Currently, nurse practitioners are most likely to utilize calcium-altering agents in the treatment of bipolar or seizure disorders. In the future, we anticipate a greater role for such drugs.
