Thrombosis risk testing in the clinical laboratory

Academic Article

  • A complete investigation profile for thrombophilia should include the conditions listed in Table 1 due to their prevalence among patients with thrombosis. However, it is often inapproriate to perform all assays simultaneously because many pathologic and therapeutic conditions affect the results of these assays. Thus, each laboratory's role must include education on the interpretation and limitations of thrombosis risk tests.
