Inelastic scattering of ions at the surface

Abstract

  • A systematic study of the interaction between surface collective modes and surface-channeled ions is made. A complex image potential is introduced and the position-dependent stopping power is obtained. It is shown that the surface collective modes play a significant role outside the solid. The energy loss spectra of the surface-channeled ions are obtained by computer simulation. © 1982.
