  • Two major effects of brain death have been observed in experimental studies. The first is a series of major electrocardiographic, hemodynamic, and histopathologic changes that take place during and immediately after the agonal period. The second consists of significant changes in circulating levels of certain hormones, which in turn result in major changes in body metabolism.
