AHIMA’s Informatics Toolkit for Health Informatics and Information Management Professionals was developed to advance the practice of health informatics and its role in supporting healthcare’s technology rich environment. The toolkit covers the current landscape in the adoption of advanced informatics practices. It presents a variety of resources that facilitate and enhance the skills of all healthcare professionals in the health informatics and information management (HIIM) field. It contains a variety of resources to assist health information professionals at a foundational level in leading and implementing health informatics.
In addition, the toolkit includes a sample project plan and eight appendices that support and enhance the main toolkit content, including information on statistical testing, project management, data management, utilization, and reporting. The toolkit provides tools for HIIM professionals to assist them in meeting the growing demand for informatics competencies in healthcare.
