Tunable distributed feedback color center laser using stabilized F 2+** color centers in LiF crystal

Abstract

  • A room temperature tunable color center distributed feedback (DFB) laser using stabilized F +**2 centres in LiF (LiF:F +**2) as a gain medium was discussed. The tunable oscillation of LiF:F +**2 DFB lasing was found to be achieved in the near infrared region. It was observed that the LiF crystal was grown by the Kyropulos method and doped with LiOH, LiO 2 and MgF 2 to provide thermal and photostabilization of the charged center crystals. The results show that the incident angle of the pumping beams was closed to the Brewster angle which provide minimum losses of pump energy.
