Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) remains a frequent presentation in medical practice. The causes of UGIB are classified into variceal and non-variceal bleeding. Most cases of non-variceal UGIB spontaneously resolve, or, are managed endoscopically after resuscitation. However, transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) remains an important available treatment modality in the armamentarium for management of non-variceal UGIB.
