Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography in Patients with Roux-en-Y Anatomy

Academic Article

Abstract

  • Bariatric surgery has been increasingly performed in response to the obesity pandemic. During the last decade, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) has become the preferred surgical approach. It is also commonly performed after pylorus preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy and other biliary tract surgeries. This article discusses the different options available for endoscopists who are faced with the need to perform endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in patients after Roux-en-Y reconstruction, with special emphasis on those after RYGB. © 2010 Elsevier Inc.
