CT demonstration of an ossifying bronchial carcinoid simulating broncholithiasis

Academic Article

Abstract

  • Bronchial carcinoid tumors are low-grade malignancies that usually arise within large airways. Occasionally these tumors undergo stromal ossification and calcification, and they can then mimic other calcified lung masses. We report a case in which an ossifying carcinoid tumor was initially thought to represent broncholithiasis.
