Dr. Bosarge joined the UAB Acute Care Surgery faculty in June 2012 following academic appointments at the University of South Alabama Medical Center and East Tennessee State University. Dr. Bosarge has served within the United States Army to include three combat tours in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel prior to resigning his commission in 2014. Dr. Bosarge serves as the state vice chair for the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (COT), a member at large of the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Executive Council, in addition to serving as the Trauma/Burn Intensive Care Unit Medical Director and the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Director at UAB.
Dr. Bosarge’s clinical interests are related to trauma resuscitation, pre-hospital care, and surgical critical care. Dr. Bosarge has multiple areas of ongoing research related to the field of trauma. Since joining UAB, he has participated in the NIH-funded Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium (ROC) as an investigator and presently is the site principal investigator for the Tranexamic Acid Study for Traumatic Brain Injury.
