Research Overview

  • Decreased bioavailability of nitric oxide and subsequent dysregulation of nitric oxide signaling is a major factor for the development of cardiopulmonary vascular diseases. My studies are focused on developing a technology to increase the bioavailability of nitric oxide levels using exogenous source of nitric oxide donors such as low molecular weight S-nitrosothiols (nitric oxide adducts to thiols) and inorganic nitrite in experimental animal models and human clinical studies. My studies also focused on developing inhaled gaseous and aerosolized drug delivery systems to treat highly debilitating pulmonary hypertension diseases.
