Dr. Welch completed residency training and was chief resident at Wake Forest Baptist Health before training in Infectious Diseases at The George Washington University Medical Center and VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She joined the ID faculty at Wake Forest in 2011, and then joined the UAB Infectious Diseases faculty in 2013.
