Overview

  • Dr. Whitson received his initial medical training at University of South Alabama College of Medicine, with his residency and fellowship completed at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. Dr. Whitson served as Chief Resident while at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. Following his fellowship, he joined the UAB faculty in as Assistant Professor.
  • Research Overview

  • His research and clinical interests relate to critical care, ultrasonography, echocardiography, and resource management in critical illness. Dr. Whitson has published and presented work on paracentesis, intravenous vasoactive medication in the ICU, septic shock, and acute care.
