• Dr. Jefferson Walker is the Director of the Certificate Program in Research Communication and also teaches courses in the Graduate School's Professional Development Program. An accomplished speaker and writer, Jeff is the President of the Alabama Communication Association and the author of the book, King Returns to Washington: An Exploration of Memory, Rhetoric, and Politics in the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial. Jeff earned degrees from the University of Alabama (Ph.D., Communication and Information Sciences; M.A., Communication Studies) and the University of Montevallo (B.S., History and Communication Studies). His teaching and research interests include science communication, public memory, social movements, organizational leadership, and civic engagement. Jeff is also the founder and President of Brick by Brick Arts, a non-profit community theatre organization operating in the Birmingham area.
