Dr. Jodie Dionne-Odom is an Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Chief of Women's Health at the 1917 HIV Clinic, and the Associate Director of Global Health in the Center for Women's Reproductive Health. As a physician-scientist, she designs clinical trials to identify new ways to treat and prevent infectious diseases in women and pregnancy.
Dr. Dionne has a longstanding committment to advancing women's health in the US and in Africa. Current research projects focus on preventing malaria, sexually transmitted infections and hepatitis B among pregnant women in Cameroon in Central Africa. Over the past 15 years, she has also led or supported HIV/STI research projects in Zambia, Rwanda, Haiti and Peru. In the United States, Dr. Dionne is a member of the CDC/HRSA advisory committee on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STD Prevention and Treatment, the COVID-19 Taskforce for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and the Alabama Maternal Mortality Committee. Dr. Dionne also serves as a research mentor for many students and trainees with projects in women's health.
