Overview

  • Dr. Davies is the director of Cardiothoracic Surgery Division at UAB. He has an active clinical practice with specific interest in cardiac valvular disease. Along with UAB cardiologists, he started the transcatheter aortic valve program. As part of the program, approximately 400 transcatheter aortic valve replacements have been performed in three years at UAB, and Dr. Davies performs more than 100 open aortic valve replacements annually. Through this volume of procedures, Dr. Davies has a very good understanding of the disease process and the surgical treatment of vascular heart disease.

Dr. Davies is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, Medical Association of Alabama, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association and American Heart Association.

Dr. Davies is interested in clinical research related to outcomes analysis in adult cardiac surgery with an emphasis on thoracic aortic pathology. Analysis and development of endovascular techniques in adult cardiac surgery with emphasis in percutaneous cardiac valve procedures.
