Overview

  • Dr. Liu graduated from China Medical University with a D.M.D. degree in 1994 and from Wuhan University with a Ph.D. degree in 1999. He received postdoctoral training in the Medical College of Georgia and the University of Alabama at Birmingham through 2003. Dr. Liu worked as a Research Associate from 2003-2006 in the Department of Cell Biology at University of Alabama at Birmingham. He was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine in 2006 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012.

  • Dr. Liu's research focuses on the role of non-coding RNAs in regulation of lung inflammation, injury and repair. Dr. Liu's research recently developed a new direction to study the role of cellular metabolism in the pathogenesis of lung injury and fibrosis.
