I enjoy teaching courses dealing with controversial issues as well as those that provide students with practical skills. I have taught courses in ethics in public administration, normative theory, political theory, religion and politics, the American presidency, Congress, international relations, public policy, and program evaluation.
I like to have students develop a mastery of pertinent material and challenge their preconceptions and expectations about a subject by applying a rigorous analysis of the evidence regarding common claims on the subject. As the saying goes, I am not the sage on the stage, but the guide on the side, helping students discover possibilities while honing their skills.
