Overview

  • Bunyamin Ozaydin, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services Administration and Scientist at School of Medicine Informatics Institute. He has a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Computer Engineering. Prior to his faculty appointment, he has worked in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Anesthesiology in various informatics roles for almost a decade. He mainly teaches in the Graduate Programs in Health Informatics focusing on systems analysis and design, databases, and various courses in the Data Analytics track. Dr. Ozaydin's research interests include data infrastructures that enable data mining and analytics for health research and application of machine learning techniques in healthcare.

    Research Overview

  • In the most general sense Dr. Ozaydin is interested in data infrastructures that enable efficient data mining and analytics in various health-related data. He has been working on developing data warehouses for health services research data and colorectal and breast cancer research data. He is also interested in applications of machine learning techniques to health data to classification and pattern recognition type questions and development and implementation of rule-based and predictive decision support systems.
  • Teaching Overview

  • Dr. Ozaydin mainly teaches in the Graduate Programs in Health Informatics. His courses include Analysis and Design of Health Information Systems and Databases and Data Modeling core courses. He also teaches Advanced Database Design and SQL for Health Care and Healthcare Business Intelligence courses in the Data Analytics track.
