Overview

  • Dr. Batra currently serves as the director of the Interventional Pulmonology and Pleural Disease Program at UAB. He has completed an advanced fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Batra also holds a degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Collat School of Business of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

    Dr. Batra completed his initial medical training and internship at the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He followed this training with an internship and residency at the Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA, during which he was chief resident at the VA medical center. After completing his internship and residency training, Dr. Batra entered into the UAB Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program. After his fellowship training, Dr. Batra joined the UAB Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine as a full-time faculty member in 2015.

    Dr. Batra established the UAB Interventional Pulmonology and Pleural disease program and is currently the director of this program. Dr. Batra also established the UAB Fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology and is currently the fellowship director. He has also served on faculty in the interventional pulmonology program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Batra is currently an active member of the Clinicians Advisory Committee of the American Thoracic Society (ATS).
