• Amanda S. Alexander, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine. She is a clinician-educator in the Division of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology who works in outpatient clinics as well as on the consult service at UAB and the Birmingham VA Medical Center. She has an interest in scleroderma and is building a scleroderma program at UAB, and has a musculoskeletal ultrasound clinic at TKC and the Birmingham VA. Additionally, she has an interest in medical education and curriculum development and is excited to continue to bring innovative educational ideas to the rheumatology fellowship program as an Associate Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship Program and Associate Director of the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Program.

    Dr. Alexander is also interested in advocacy and is active in the American College of Rheumatology, where she serves on the Government Affairs Committee.

    Dr. Alexander earned her M.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 2013. She then completed residency, and chief residency, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2017, followed by a fellowship in rheumatology at UAB in 2019. She joined the faculty at UAB in 2019.
