Overview

  • Will Brooks, PhD joined the UAB faculty in 2013 as an assistant professor and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2015. He received a PhD in Cell Biology from UAB in 2007 where he studied the role of novel ubiquitination enzymes in cell cycle regulation. Brooks has over 10 years of experience teaching anatomy and related topics to a wide range of learners ranging from undergraduates to medical students and residents. He conducts research in the area of medical education and is an active member of the American Association of Anatomists, currently serving on the Professional Development Committee.

    Research Overview

  • Dr. Brooks' research is in the area of medical and health professions education. He is interested in the evaluation of educational pedagogy, specifically team-based learning (TBL). He is also interested in continuing education in the anatomical sciences.
  • Teaching Overview

  • Dr. Brooks teaches gross anatomy and neuroanatomy to students of various graduate health professions programs. He is the content leader for medical gross anatomy and course director of the Musculoskeletal and Skin course in the School of Medicine. He is also the course director for Gross Anatomy in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Additionally, he teaches anatomy and neuroanatomy to dental, optometry, nursing, and graduate students.
