    Research Overview

  • Dr. Valentine’s academic research is focused on the role of neutrophils in the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis, managing patients with cystic fibrosis, improving outcomes for heart-lung and lung transplant recipients, genetic influences on the immunopathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, managing CMV Disease in transplantation, defining and managing obliterative bronchiolitis/bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome in the lung allograft, pulmonary complications in the immunocompromised host, and managing septic shock. Dr. Valentine’s clinical interests include critical pathways in managing lung transplantation and advanced pulmonary diseases, quality assurance and process improvement in heart and lung transplantation, cystic fibrosis, diffuse parenchymal lung diseases, and Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).
