Development and Implications of Accreditation for the U.S. Master of Health Administration

Abstract

  • Health administration education is facing more opportunities and challenges through Chinese medical reform. Health administration educators need to consider the developing direction of future health care and consider how to improve the quality of health administration education in order to meet the requirements from the changing market. This review introduces the transformation from AUPHA (Association of University Programs in Health Administration) to CAHME of health administration accreditation institution for MHA or MSHA (Master of Health Administration or Master of Science in Health Administration) in the U.S. It also describes the accreditation goal, mission, standard and focus points of CAHME (Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education). Finally, it highlights the developing direction and quality improvement area for health administration education in China.
