Microscopic-growth morphologies in binary systems

Abstract

  • Microscopic solidification morphologies of binary systems are simulated with a Monte Carlo model that accounts for bulk diffusion, attachment and detachment kinetics, and surface diffusion. Through variation of interaction energies and undercooling, a broad range of microstructures is obtained, including eutectic systems and layered and ionic compounds. © 1992 The American Physical Society.
