An Unusual Cause of Progressive Head Enlargement following Proteus Mirabilis Meningitis

Academic Article

Abstract

  • A treated case of Proteus mirabilis meningitis complicated by multiple intracranial arachnoid cysts is reported. These cysts, acting as space‐occupying lesions, gave rise to progressive head enlargement and an initial misdiagnosis of hydrocephalus. The importance of recognising the possibility of this complication is stressed in order to initiate appropriate investigation and treatment for progressive head enlargement in the post‐meningiticperiod.
