Change in attitudes toward presymptomatic testing in Huntington disease

Academic Article

Abstract

  • The data presented suggest that many of those at risk individuals who previously expressed a desire to learn whether or not they are likely to develop HD may indeed come forward to be tested, and that many will want to be tested shortly after gene linkage testing becomes available. We recognize that the sample of at risk persons surveyed here may not be representative of the at risk population as a whole, and we suspect that a somewhat lower proportion of the total population will want to be tested.
