Marching into Birmingham: Children as change agents

Abstract

  • In this article, the authors implemented a series of lesson plans about the Children’s March in Birmingham Alabama to strengthen students’ understanding of historical figures’ agency. These students explored the motivations of adolescents to participate in this event. The steps and resources for the series of lesson plans are provided.
