Treatment of carbon tetrachloride poisoning with hyperbaric oxygen

Academic Article

  • A 28-yr-old man ingested a large dose of carbon tetrachJoride. He was treated with hyperbaric oxygen and had rapid improvement with minimal hepatotoxicity. The experimental data and clinical experience with this form of therapy for carbon tetrachloride poisoning are reviewed. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy may be an effective treatment for this rare and potentially lethal hepatotoxin. © 1982.
