IMAGE CORRELATION USING PARALLEL PROCESSING.

Abstract

  • Due to advances in technology, large scale microprocessor based parallel processing systems have become an attractive possibility for performing image processing computations. The use of microprocessors in the SIMD (single instruction stream-multiple data stream) mode of parallelism to do one-dimensional image correlation (vector correlation) is examined. Two parallel approaches to the task are presented. The computational speedup of the parallel approaches over the serial method is shown to be near a factor of N, where N is the number of microprocessors used.
