The build-up and decay of band-tail excited photoluminescence (PL) in As//2S//3 glass was measured over 0. 300 ps using picosecond laser jtterfree streak camera techniques. The maximum radiative rate is nu //1 approximately equals 4 multiplied by 10**8 Hz. Nonradiative processes competing with nu //1 exhibit a T**2-activated temperature dependence similar to the CW quantum efficiency. Different subsets of carriers appear to be involved in PL and photoinduced absorption.
