LiF:F2-laser parameter optimization for Nd laser pumping

Abstract

  • Authors consider optimizing the parameters of an LiF:F2-laser with pumping within a cavity by an Nd laser, in which the LiF crystal containing F2-color centers acted as switch and load for the Nd laser and at the same time operated to lase at λ = 1.15 μm in its own cavity. The Nd laser contains a GLS-1 glass rod 4.5 cm in diameter and 68 cm long; the cavity for it consisted of two plane mirrors having reflectivities close to 1. The radiation (about 1.5%) passing through the mirrors R1and R2was used to record the pulse shape and determine the energy density at λ = 1.06 μm within the neodymium laser cavity.
