Alterations in adenosine nucleotides in hemorrhagic shock

  • Decreased respiratory activity of mitochondria in shock suggests limitations in the capability to synthesize adenosine nucleotides. Whether or not this results in decreased levels of adenosine triphosphate in various tissues during shock has not been shown conclusively. In this study, the authors demonstrated a decrease in the nucleotide contents of skeletal muscle, liver, and kidney during hemorrhagic shock.
