Presentation skills: How to present research results

  • © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014. This book is about designing, implementing and interpreting clinical research. This chapter is aimed at a discussion of how to present the research that has been performed. Although almost no one currently disagrees that a formal curriculum in research methodology is critical for a new investigator, the manner in which the results of a study are presented is presumed to be obvious, and training in the art of presentations is much less common. The belief is that good speakers are born, not made, and this is no more true than good researchers are born and not made. And so, the methodology of presentations should be an important part of a young investigators training. This chapter provides an introduction to delivering an effective presentation.
