Abstract

  • A review of the classic methods (culture and histopathology) for detecting site-specific disease with particular emphasis on the diagnosis of disseminated disease by serology blood culture, and detection of histoplasma polysaccharide antigen. Exoantigen testing and DNA probe technology for identification of isolates is also reviewed.
