I have been a critical care nurse for 25 years and have been an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a sub specialization in cardio-pulmonary for 17 of those years. I have worked in a variety of fields, including cardiology, pulmonary, internal medicine, urgent care, and have worked as an ACNP in the Emergency Room. I am currently the Sub-Specialty Track Coordinator of the RN First Assistant Program at UAB SON. I also am course manager over NUR 614, Assessment and Diagnostic Reasoning Course. I am enrolled in the DNP Program at UAB SON.
I was enrolled in the PhD Program in the School of Nursing from 2014-2016. My research area of interest is in therapeutic hypothermia. I created an interview guide for assessing the quality of life and cognitive function of patients after a life threatening event who have undergone treatment with therapeutic hypothermia. I am currently enrolled in the DNP Program. My area of interest is to assess if implementing a digital literacy based medication list in the patient portal system can improve medication compliance.
